How can a stone mill producing substandard flour be improved?

Many users are not always fortunate enough to purchase stone-ground flour mills that offer good value for money. In some cases, the processing performance of the installed machines is unsatisfactory. Therefore, to ensure the manufacturer’s profitability, certain measures must be taken to effectively address these shortcomings. What specific steps should be taken?

　　1. Ensure that the material in the stone mill flour machine is spread evenly across the sieve surface. If this is not the case, first check that the sieve body is level horizontally; then adjust the feed dampers. In principle, the opening of the dampers should be consistent, but this can be adjusted according to how the material is distributed across the width of the sieve surface – with smaller openings where there is more material and larger openings where there is less. The material entering the machine must cover the entire length of the sieve surface; whether this is achieved depends on the sieve configuration and the strength of the airflow.

　　2. The airflow in the stone mill does not meet requirements. This may result in insufficient feed flow or excessive spacing in a particular section of the screen mesh. Coarse wheat bran must cover the entire length of the screen; it is common for fine wheat bran and coarse wheat germ to fail to cover half of the screen in the final section. In such cases, the corresponding air valve should be closed slightly. If the screen surface is fully covered but there is an excessive amount of material on the screen, inspect the screen mesh. It is often necessary to increase the tension of the screen mesh to restore normal screening efficiency; alternatively, loosen the mesh in a specific section; or reduce the feed rate appropriately.
